Trust, Safety & Transparency
Version 1.0 · Last updated: 24 June 2026
Our Commitment
At CarbonFreeLife, trust is fundamental to our mission. We believe that helping people reduce their environmental impact also means protecting their privacy, providing transparent information, using technology responsibly, and maintaining high standards of security.
This Policy explains our commitments beyond our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, including how we approach artificial intelligence, emissions calculations, carbon offsets, platform security, environmental integrity, and user trust.
Our Principles
CarbonFreeLife is built around five guiding principles:
- Transparency — We explain how our calculations, AI systems, and offset services work.
- Privacy — We minimize data collection and protect personal information.
- Accuracy — We continuously improve our emissions methodologies while acknowledging their limitations.
- Security — We apply modern security practices to protect our platform and users.
- Integrity — We partner with reputable organizations and strive for responsible climate action.
Artificial Intelligence
CarbonFreeLife uses artificial intelligence to improve the user experience. AI may assist with:
- Restaurant menu analysis
- Dish recognition
- Flight emissions calculations
- Sustainability recommendations
- Carbon footprint estimation
- Educational content
- Platform improvements
AI-generated outputs are designed to assist users but should be considered informational estimates rather than definitive measurements. Although we continuously improve our models, AI systems may occasionally produce inaccurate or incomplete results. Where appropriate, users should independently verify important decisions.
Carbon Emissions Methodology
Carbon emissions are estimated using publicly available scientific research, recognized emissions databases, published methodologies, industry standards, and proprietary calculations developed by CarbonFreeLife. Examples include:
- Aviation emission factors
- Food lifecycle assessments
- Agricultural emissions databases
- Transportation datasets
- Published environmental research
Environmental science continues to evolve. Accordingly, emissions estimates may change over time as methodologies improve. Actual emissions will always vary depending on numerous variables including sourcing, production methods, transportation, occupancy, preparation methods, regional differences, and operational practices. CarbonFreeLife does not represent that any calculation is scientifically exact.
Carbon Offset Transparency
CarbonFreeLife enables users to voluntarily support climate projects that reduce, remove, or avoid greenhouse gas emissions. Projects may include:
- Reforestation
- Forest conservation
- Renewable energy
- Methane capture
- Biodiversity restoration
- Community climate initiatives
Carbon offsets are provided by independent third-party organizations and verification bodies. CarbonFreeLife does not own, develop, certify, insure, or operate any underlying climate project. Information about projects is provided by project developers and recognized certification standards. Although we carefully evaluate partners, we cannot guarantee future project performance, permanence, regulatory treatment, or environmental outcomes.
Responsible Data Practices
Our Privacy Policy explains in detail how personal information is collected, processed, retained, and protected.
As guiding principles, CarbonFreeLife aims to:
- Collect only information necessary to operate the Service.
- Never sell users' personal information.
- Respect applicable privacy laws, including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA.
- Give users meaningful control over their personal data.
- Use trusted service providers with appropriate safeguards.
Platform Security
Protecting user information is one of our highest priorities. Current security measures include:
- HTTPS/TLS encrypted communications
- Secure authentication
- Password hashing
- Encrypted infrastructure
- Database row-level security
- Role-based access controls
- Infrastructure monitoring
- Security updates and patch management
- Defense-in-depth security practices
Security practices evolve continuously as the platform grows.
Responsible Security Disclosure
We appreciate responsible security research. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it to support@carbonfreelife.pro. Please include a description of the issue, steps to reproduce, and supporting screenshots or logs if available. We will investigate legitimate reports promptly and take appropriate corrective action.
Environmental Integrity
Our goal is not simply to calculate emissions but to encourage informed climate action. We strive to:
- Use recognized scientific methodologies.
- Continuously improve calculation accuracy.
- Clearly communicate uncertainty where it exists.
- Partner with reputable carbon project providers.
- Avoid misleading environmental claims.
- Update methodologies as climate science evolves.
Transparency is central to maintaining credibility with our users.
Responsible Use
Users are expected to use CarbonFreeLife responsibly. This includes:
- Providing accurate information where required.
- Respecting applicable laws.
- Not attempting to manipulate emissions calculations.
- Not misrepresenting certificates or carbon offsets.
- Not interfering with platform security or availability.
Additional obligations are described in our Terms of Service.
Accessibility
CarbonFreeLife is committed to making its platform accessible to as many users as possible. We continually work to improve accessibility and usability following recognized accessibility best practices. If you encounter accessibility barriers, please contact us so we can continue improving the Service.
Third-Party Partners
To deliver our services, CarbonFreeLife works with trusted third-party providers for infrastructure, authentication, payment processing, analytics, communications, and climate project verification. These providers maintain their own privacy, security, and operational practices. Our current service providers are identified in our Privacy Policy and may change as our platform evolves.
